Inspired by the code of etiquette for the Japanese tea ceremony, Saho is a ritualistic practice that embodies Japan’s spirituality and artistry.
A deep reverence for nature and the fostering of beauty over time are centuries-old values that continue to hold cultural relevance to this day - values that also serve as the foundation of SENSAI’s skincare philosophy.
At SENSAI, we are committed to preserving these beauty traditions. Our passion for artistry and nature has led to the creation of Saho – The Skincare Ritual, a unique skincare method grounded in mindful practice.
Just as the tea ceremony follows a carefully structured series of steps, Saho – The Skincare Ritual is built around a mindful two-step process.
Each step, with its own two-phase approach, allows the skin to fully absorb the care it receives, enhancing its natural beauty.
Double Cleansing:
The Mindful Art of Purification
The experience of the tea ceremony begins before entering the tea house. As a custom, attendees are required to wash their hands and cleanse their mouths at a stone wash basin before proceeding to the tearoom - an etiquette that symbolises the purification of both body and spirit.
Inspired by this preparatory ritual is Double Cleansing - our two-step routine that thoroughly cleanses and purifies the skin in preparation for the treatments that follow. Borrowing from the spiritual significance, impurities are gently lifted away, preparing the skin to receive the care that follows.
Double Moisturising:
The Mindful Art of Moisturisation
During the Japanese tea ceremony, the enjoyment of tea is enriched through a two-step process: first, a sweet confection prepares the palate, followed by the tea itself, creating a harmonious balance of flavours.
This synergy, created through these carefully taken steps, is the inspiration behind Double Moisturising - our two-step routine designed to enhance the benefits of moisturising. First, a lotion replenishes the skin with a flood of hydration. Then, an emulsion or cream envelops the skin, sealing in moisture and nourishment. Harnessing decades of SENSAI research, both steps, each with its distinct role, are expertly crafted to work in synergy, revealing skin’s innate radiance.
